NWAMN Secchi Day 2012 Print
Written by Ralph Weber

For the fourth year in a row, NWAMN members – fifteen in all – helped to make Secchi Day on Beaver Lake on Saturday, August 18th a great success. Named after Fr. Angelo Secchi, inventor of the Secchi disk, Secchi Day is a day of citizen science and education about the importance of water in general and Beaver Lake water in particular; Beaver Lake supplies drinking water to virtually all of Northwest Arkansas.

NWAMNers explained watersheds, led participants in educational games and other activities, discussed rain gardens, took surveys, showed “What’s in the Forest” a discovery activity designed by Denis Dean, a NWAMN member, and in general, gave the event its educational flavor.

Many thanks to all of the chapter members who participated!
