Terri and Anne at the starting lineThe morning of Saturday, October 25, 2014 dawned clear and crisp as runners began to gather at 8:00 a.m. for check-in at the Bull Shoals White River State Park. It was the start of The Big Bluff Challenge Trail Run, sponsored by Nature’s Way, The Health Food Store on the Square, in Mountain Home, AR. Run Coordinator Jake Anderson, Sports Nutrition Specialist at Nature’s way had set up the event with State Park Interpreter, Dru Edmonds.

Start of the Big Bluff Challenge

Through their collaboration and that of Jack Clayton, owner of Nature’s Way, proceeds from the race would be donated to NCAMN. Terri Argyle and I arrived at about 7:30 armed with brochures, applications and Naturalist in Training 2015 class schedules. We set up our table and were ready to answer any questions that the runners might have regarding the Master Naturalist Organization. This was new to us as this was the first time a local business had shown an interest in NCAMN and the many volunteer projects that we are involved with throughout the area. We were pleased that many of the runners were, in fact, interested in joining the NCAMN membership.

We were certainly surprised when Jack called to let me know that the donation from the race was $500.We would like to thank Jack and Ruth Ann Clayton, and Jake Anderson for their support of NCAMN and the work we do in the community.
