The 2014 Pinnacle Mountain State Park Discovery Days was another success despite one day cut short due to weather.
CAMN along with a few others facilitated programs for 600 elementary students per day for three days in May. Programs included Reptiles, Mammals, Wilderness Survival Skills, Nature Games, Kingfisher Trail Hikes, Insects, Plants, Scavenger Hunt, Civil War, Geology, Cotton, and Water!
This amounted to over 7000 points of contact during this nature extravaganza.
The students, teachers, and chaperones all had a great time and learned a lot about nature in the great outdoors.
Special thanks to the following CAMN members who played a big part in these programs: Nancy Deckard, Nita Sheth, Jay Justice, Rob Hill, Joe Wankum, Karen Radar, Sharon Ferguson, John Mize, Bert Turner, Nancy Eddy, Joellyn Beard, Frank Meeks, Elene Murray, Jerry Meeks, Fritz Kahley, and Linda Pneuman.
This was the eight year that CAMN has participated in the event with each year getting better and larger. The schools have to reserve their groups far in advance of this popular program to be part of the 600 per day max.
CAMN did have some first time facilitators this year, and we really appreciate them taking plunge!!
